EUDR: new official update and date change, what companies must do now
On December 19 the EU formalized a new EUDR delay: large and medium companies until 30/12/2026, micro and small until 30/06/2027. What changes, what does not, and what to do now.

In October 2025 we reported that the European Union confirmed there would be no further postponement in the implementation of the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR).
However, on December 19, 2025, the European Union published a new official update that modifies the implementation timeline, introducing a new delay with the goal of facilitating the operational rollout of the regulation.
New confirmed dates
- Large and medium-sized companies: must comply with the EUDR as of December 30, 2026.
- Micro and small companies: will have additional time until June 30, 2027.
This adjustment does not change the spirit or scope of the regulation. The EUDR continues to require that products entering the European market (such as coffee, cocoa, soy, beef, palm oil, timber and rubber, among others) demonstrate deforestation-free origin and verifiable traceability.
The decision recognizes the technical complexity of collecting origin data, geolocation and due diligence, and seeks to give more time for companies, authorities and technology platforms to be fully operational.

At Darwin Evolution, we believe this new deadline should not be interpreted as an invitation to wait, but as a strategic opportunity to implement traceability and compliance solutions in an orderly, anticipated way.
If you export (or plan to export) to the European Union, this is the moment to prepare.
